For Boys of all ages I'm interested in this book for four people: my grandson (age 10), my son (age 24), me (age 53), and my dad (age 77).
The first two will get it for Christmas, but I gave it to my dad for Father's Day...as a sort of "remember this?". He has been taken with the book and is eagerly reading it....I think of all of us, he is probably the only one (as a boy) that actually did many of the projects discussed, as well as learned the historical perspectives in school.
The main reasons I gave this to the others was so they could enjoy reading about subjects that just aren't taught in school anymore, and in many cases aren't taught anywhere at all. It's been eye-opening for me as well, as I realize the importance of the information included in this special book.
As I read through my copy, I think I'll add little notes in the margins about the subjects, what I think about them or any memories I have about past experiences with them....perhaps it'll make interesting reading for somebody else when I'm gone.
Magnificent, old-fashioned fun is found on every page! You can open the book to any page and just go where it takes you. There is fun, adventure, humor, learning, marvel and mischief throughout. You don't need to be a big reader or have a huge attention span for this one, each blurb is just about as long as it needs to be and there are lots of great illustrations. Reading it was very fun - you just can't wait to see what's next! I would suggest this book for anyone, but especially for kids who hate to read.
A Must Have for Boys My husband thought this book seemed cool and got it to read to my son. I'm not sure who is enjoying it more! Since getting it several adult men have gotten it wether they were fathers or not. Truly a must have for a father to share with his son.
If you have a son that hates to read. Or one that loves to read, try this book. My son who is at the age where there are lots more interesting things to do besides reading, read the cover and decided to give it a try. Not only has he not put the book down but he is having the time of his life trying the experiments and learning about cool stuff. Great Xmas gift.
For the dad I recommend Understanding: Train of Thought.
